The traditional cattle farm Ousema, in the heart of Namibia, offers rustic, self-catering accommodations on campsites or in holiday apartments, embedded in nature. Experience an exciting stay in Namibia's vast and diverse nature under the African sun, far away from the stress of everyday urban life.
About Us
A special kind of farm holiday
The cattle farm "Ousema" is located about 200 km north of the capital Windhoek, between the towns of Okahandja and Otjiwarongo. The name comes from the Herero language and means "The place of many water holes ". Located between the Omatako Mountains and the Omatako Dam, Ousema is an ideal stopover on the way to Namibia's northern attractions (Etosha Pan, Caprivi/Kavango Region, Damaraland/Kaokoland, etc.), as well as a suitable starting point for various interesting day trips (Waterberg Plateau Park, dinosaur tracks, various game farms).
The farm has been an active and traditional family business for almost a century now. Since 2023, the guestfarm business is being restructured for campers and self-caterers.
Although the restructuring is still in progress, we look forward to welcoming you from January 2025!
Accommodation
Relaxation in a rustic way
CAMPING
We offer 3 fully equipped campsites with covered kitchen houses, barbecue area, water connection, and private toilet and shower.

A rondavel bungalow as a community room right next to the campsite offers electricity and is equipped with hot water connection, a bathroom and a kitchen equipped with everything necessary.

HOLIDAY APARTMENTS
We also offer 2 fully furnished, spacious holiday apartments.

Holiday apartment per night,
- with one bedroom: N$ 650,-
- with two bedrooms: N$ 850,-
Bookings only at least 24 hours in advance!
The parklike garden with grass-roofed veranda and large swimming pool is available to all our guests at all times.

In addition, there is the possibility to help yourself to essential things offered in our small farm shop.​
Activities
Farm life with adventure
Apart from relaxation in the sunny African svannah, we offer you the following activities on Ousema:

Guided tours with the farm pickup are the best way to experience the vastness of the farmland. On some occasions you may have the opportunity to observe various antelopes and small game.

- > Hikes
Explore the diversity of the farmland, between bush and dense vegetation along the Omatako riverbed.
​
-> Bird watching
Ousema offers a rich and diverse bird life with more than 320 different bird species.

-> Canoeing on the Omatako dam / river (seasonal)
During a good rainy season, the level of the Omatako Delta reaches the farm's homestead and offers an adventurous river landscape with gallery forests and a wide range of water birds (pelicans, flamingos, cormorants, etc.). To explore the river and the vastness of the dam, Paddle boats are available.
Even in dry periods, the Omatako riverbed offers an interesting biotope for fauna and flora.

From Ousema you can easily make day trips to interesting sights in the surrounding area such as the Waterberg Plateau Park, the dinosaur tracks at Mount Etjo or to game lodges with game drives.

Directions to Ousema
Where exactly?
Ousema is located directly next to the Omatako Dam, about 200 km north of the capital Windhoek, between the towns of Okahandja and Otjiwarongo.
From Windhoek, simply follow the B1 towards north. After about 90km from Okahandja turn right onto the gravel road D2404. After another 33km turn left at the blue farm sign.
